About Me

I'm a native of the Bay Area growing up just North of San Francisco. I went to both undergrad and grad school in San Francisco and have spent many a day exploring the city streets and Golden Gate Park either by bike or by foot.   Quick fact: I can watch any movie with a scene filmed in SF and be able to tell you exactly where it is.

I spent my formative marketing years after grad school managing promotional events for Pepsi Cola. My first few years saw me heading special events and projects for the brand Mountain Dew, including the two years ESPN held the X-Games in San Francisco (on a nearby pier!). After those first few introductory years, I oversaw promotions and new brand launches for the entire Pacific Northwest including the brand launches of Sierra Mist and Code Red.

In order to raise a young family and strike out for new adventures I moved to Portland, Oregon and soon got involved in education. I initially started as a marketing/advertising undergrad teacher for Unversity of Phoenix, and liked it so much I started a full-time position marketing for an online education group called Insight Schools. In this position, I launched eight new K-12 schools nationwide, dramatically furthering online education options for K-12 families and students.

In 2009, we decided to  move to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to family. Shortly afterwards I became Director of Marketing for Primavera Online High School. At the time Primavera was smaller and somewhat homespun. My task was to take them to another level. I was responsible for a complete brand make over... new logo, new website, traditional and digital advertising... the works. In less than a year the makeover was complete and I had doubled their student enrollment. They are now one of the most prominent brands in the state of Arizona.

After being in online education for nearly six years I decided to seek out some big brand marketing experience. My next opportunity was LifeLock, based in Tempe, AZ. It was great working for such a well-known brand. A hand full of colleagues and I started a new partner channel that co-marketed with corporate partners like American Airlines, Choice Hotels, Best Western, and AAA. Additionally during my time there, I worked in the employee benefits side offering partnering organizations a discount by providing identity theft protection to their employees.

In the wake of the purchase of LifeLock by Symantec, I decided to try something new and went to Cable ONE, a telecommunications company based in Phoenix.  I headed up their reinvigorated Enterprise marketing efforts, primarily selling fiber optic solutions nationwide to municipalities, schools districts, and hospitals.  I was responsible for building their entire B2B marketing/sales toolkit which included TV commercials, updated website, paid digital campaigns, direct mail, email nurture (Hubspot) and Account Based Marketing strategies for major clients.

Earlier this year,  I connected with an former colleague from my online education days to re-engage in the education world and become the Senior Director of Marketing for a new EdTech brand. Formally known as Foundation Learning, I was tasked with a complete brand makeover.  I directed a marketing team of six to develop the new brand identity as well as create the multi-channel campaigns for the Fall of 2019. Come the first week of October (count day) the new brand Astravo had successfully increased enrollment by 40% year over year.

And lastly, when I'm not buried doing work for very cool brands I look to the outdoors to find my zen. I am a huge fan of hiking, camping, and going fast on anything with two wheels. I love to explore and tend to stay in our awesome zone of (AZ, CA, NV, UT, CO, and NM).
